Wint'ry Wednesday

Cold today and I had to go to an Athletics Carnival. Not to worry, it's all over now and no emotional scaring incurred.

I'm hanging out for the weekend. Its almost school holidays which will be a nice break. I hope to go down to Dwellingup for a couple of days and enjoy the forest, maybe help out as a volunteer.
Definitely need to find a new job for next year. I keep umming and erring about it because its hard to leave, especially when you work with a group of great people. But I just have to keep reminding myself about where I'm going. While I'm in this job I can't make any steps forward: I can't earn more money, I can't study and at times it sucks up all my energy and creativity.

I want a job where I feel I am contributing to my community and where I can stand up on my own two feet and get the job done. I don't ask for much.

Time for a Holiday

I did some felting on the weekend which was great. Made the base for an artwork I am creating. I keep planning ahead to do things outside in this wonderful weather, but whenever I do, it ends up raining. Like yesterday. So I spent the time inside creating and also browsing some other blogs.
I've found it really hard to get to other people's blogs by searching. Searching just seems to bring up a list of advertising sites. I've settled for going into my profile and clicking one of the interest links and then reading blogs of people with similar interests. c'est la vie.

I have Worms!!

I bought a worm farm a week ago to minimise the amount of rubbish we are creating. We don't have a lot of rubbish anyway, but this way all our food scraps are being recycled into the garden to improve the soil. A much better idea, I think. I only bought 500 worms - yes they come in boxes, no I don't think anyone counts them. Apparently you need about 1000 to get your worm farm up and running quickly. They'll get there, eventually.

Still pretty warm here for Winter. We've already had Yule - the shortest day - last week and I'm looking forward to it gradually getting
lighter and lighter.

Winter Warmer

16th of June is Winter here in Perth and my roses haven't done anything really throughout Summer or Autumn. I planted some chilli and garlic chive seeds 2 weeks ago and they are shooting. Everything is growing and its winter. I even threw Queen Anne's Lace seeds in the garden and they have germinated as well.

I enjoy gardening but I go on and off it. Its frustrating when everything gets crisped in Summer and then doesn't do anything for months and months. But it is really wonderful to see things self seeding and spreading so that your garden is fuller than it was last year. That is very satisfying.
