Fairbridge 2

So we went to Fairbridge on the weekend. It was nice. Not a lot was happening during the day and I didn't find out until 10pm that the music goes all night - that being the main part of the festival. It was a great atmosphere, nice and relaxed. The chai tent was definitely a highlight. It was a little open air tent/marquee all decorated in red. So you sat on red cushions and the squat little tables had red tablecloths on them and drank your chai.

Quite a lot of people had poi they were playing with. I'd never seen them before but they're great! They are a Maori toy - probably a hunting weapon once, I reckon. Put something hard on the end and they'd do a bit of damage. You use a pair of them and do different tricks. A cross between juggling, diablo and nunchaku. One chick had a LED pair which looked awesome at night.

So I've ordered some from NZ. Hanging out to have a play.

Fairbridge

James and I are going down to Fairbridge with some friends for a music festival this weekend. There are some doubts, but I think it'll be fun. We are camping there Saturday night. Just have to hope the weather holds up.

Between now and then I have a dance showcase at work involving almost all of the Yr8s I've taught this year. ~70. We have this performance to showcase what the girls have been doing in class in dance, and for the Year 11 &12 students as part of their assessment. Everyone's really excited and the Year 8s have been so enthusiastic and gorgeous. A lot of them I haven't seen for at least 2 months, but they remembered most of what I taught them. So that's Friday night, and why we're not going down to Fairbridge then.

I've been going to Salsa, however, this week our teacher's in Sydney so no class. Instead I helped in the beginner's class where James has just joined because they needed more men. I was a man last night. Good fun, and interesting to dance with beginners and think what things you were doing and didn't know it when you started. - haha I probably still have all my bad habits. ;)

This top photo must have been 1984 or so! My brother Ben, and my Dad getting ready for work,
when he was teaching. Below is mum and I about '83. This is on one of our camping trips. We used to go to Margaret River and Geraldton a lot...Probably following the surf!
